Daxxify is a purified botulinum toxin type A, so the core of how it works is familiar. Placed into a specific muscle, it temporarily blocks the nerve signal that tells that muscle to contract, and the skin above it stops creasing. What makes it different is what is, and is not, in it. Daxxify is the first neurotoxin stabilized with a peptide instead of animal or human proteins, so there is no albumin and nothing animal derived in the formula. That same peptide is why it tends to hold longer for many people in studies, often closer to six months than the usual three to four.

Daxxify is most established for the frown lines between the brows, often called the elevens, the forehead lines, and the crow's feet around the eyes. It also does more nuanced work: a subtle brow lift, softening bunny lines, a lip flip, easing a gummy smile, slimming the jaw through the masseter, smoothing chin dimpling, and relaxing neck bands. Placement is planned around your face and how it moves, so your dose and pattern are mapped to your anatomy rather than a chart. Many of these areas are part of a fuller facial balancing plan.

Both Daxxify and Botox are botulinum toxin type A, and both soften the same kinds of lines. The difference is the formula. Botox is stabilized with human albumin, while Daxxify is held together with a peptide and contains no animal or human proteins. That cleaner build is part of why Daxxify tends to last longer for many people, often around six months versus the three to four that is typical for Botox. Neither is better in every case. Most clinics price tox by the unit, which sounds transparent but quietly works against you. When you pay per unit, the incentive is to sell you more of them, and it can tempt a provider to under dose an area just to land on a number you will say yes to. I price by the area treated instead. You pay for the result in that zone, and I dose it to what your muscle actually needs. It keeps your cost predictable and means the only thing setting your dose is your anatomy.

Treatment is quick and uses a very fine needle, so most people find it easy. You may have tiny bumps or minor redness for a short while after, and the occasional small bruise is normal. Softening tends to begin within a few days and settles over the following couple of weeks. For many people Daxxify then holds around six months before movement gradually returns, though duration varies by person, area, and dose.
